Quality Realtor

Please pardon what I’m sure is a common question, but any guidance would be a great help. Basically after years of slogging through craigslist and the occasional random broker who always seem to disregard desired locations, prices and amenities my roommate and I are looking to work with a broker who can help us find what we’re seeking in the specific areas that we’re searching. We’re hoping to crack the Prospect Heights neighborhood, closer to Grand Army, and if anyone can recommend a quality broker in the area, or had any suggestions on honing into that elusive area it would be greatly appreciated.

We has a great experience with Temple Morrow for a sale and they rented our apartment out for us. They are in South Slope but I think know Brooklyn well.http://www.templemorrow.com/…. I think they charge one month’s rent as fee.

That said, I’m not sure if they handle renters or just rentals. Every agency I’ve ever dealt with that handles renters (Ideal Properties comes to mind) has seemed shady, but that might just be kind of how things are organized in NYC… If you go to one of the big guys like Corcoran, I think they charge 15% of a years’ rent. If you can handle the fee, then maybe that’s something to consider.

Temple Morrow charges less but never used them as a renter so I’m just not sure how that part works.
