I wouldn’t go that far Master Plvmber. I could see living on St. Pauls Ave.(AKA “Mud Lane”), in Stapleton. That being said, we looked at many old frame houses on Staten Island when we were house-hunting 40 years ago. We saw the first house we REALLY liked there, a Victorian in the Ft. Wadsworth area. Then we saw how it was surrounded by newer houses, backed out, and confined our search to Brooklyn.

Chris Burdzy helped us buy our 100-year-old Victorian in Tompkinsville four years ago. He doesn’t specialize in the North Shore, but we found him to be extremely knowledgeable and responsive. rh – taxes are NYC rates, same as Brooklyn. South Shore is much like NJ, but the North Shore along the waterfront is more urban and developing rapidly. We made the move from Carroll Gardens and have been very pleased.
