Oil heated Boiler & Oil Delivery

I’ve used S.J. Fuel in Park Slope for YEARS. they are very nice and come quickly whenever there’s a problem, even on a Sunday. Their prices are reasonable, and they will give you a bit of a break once you become a long time customer. For example, this winter, they had to replace a transformer on my furnace and charged me for the part Only, no labor or service charge. When the bill came they had actually charged me lee than the serviceman quoted me before he replaced it. I was impressed by that. They’re not a large company like Petro who I used to use before. So, they have less overhead and they know their customers more personally and by name. Good luck.

Happy almost spring, Brownstoners! I’ve combed through the forums for recommendations on good, solid, reliable companies who provide services for oil heated boilers/ AND oil delivery. Scarlino in Park Slope was mentioned a couple of times but it looks like they are out of business 🙁 Can anyone make a recommendation? (The company that I am currently working with is not cutting it.) I had gas but some of my neighbors used Petro. i used Petro in PA for some work and was quite pleased but they are not my regular delivery/service people there

Try NYPIRG …they set you up with a company at a lower rate than going rate. Frankly, for the amount spent heating a house for two winters , you can do an oil to gas conversion.

We used to use Petro based on a rec from my mom, who being older feels she needs a very reliable company in so far as delivery and service. she still has them. I have dropped them. the service was great but we paid more for it. when I balked about the price, they reminded me how great their service is and they were correct, it was very good. Steve

I will tell you what soured me on Petro – they came in with a good number for the service contract but within 3 years that price had doubled. I understand that things have to go up but what I think the sales man did was low ball to get the contract knowing that the annual increases were not going to be 5% but more like 30% or more. I understand what he did but that does not mean I like it.

Try Slomins, because of the size of their company they easily beat competitors prices. Service contract was about $150\. for the year. Their service is great. Very quick to respond to issues and oil delivery is automatic as they track your usage and keep your tank full. You can lock in a price when market prices are low this summer.
