You will do better to do the research of your suspected mismanagement, keep records and report your findings to all your fellow shareholders. You will get speadier results if your findings and suspitions are agreed with by your fellow shareholders than going rougue on your own with your own attorney. An attach on the board by a sole shareholder is an attach on the whole co-op.

Bringing attorneys into a dispute with your co-op board should be an absolute last option. If your board so obviously mismanaged the building’s affairs it should be very easy to get fellow owners to vote most or all of them out of office. If the majority of owners don’t agree with your POV you’ll probably get nowhere with an attorney either. Just my two cents…
