A heater is making a banging noise. I’ve had a plumber look at it. He changed the igniter & the condenser because it seemed as though the air mixture wasn’t rich enough to combust. That didn’t work & he is stymied. Any suggestions on who to phone?

This is one of the strangest requests for help I have seen here. I expect more from you Arkady, you are a regular here. Give us some real information and then perhaps we can be of some assistance. Of course there is also the guy who gives free estimates….

There’s a popping sound as if there’s a compression backfire. It’s a 1997 year Weil Mclain, 75,000 btu, water heater. This is not something I know anything about.

Maybe you could just suggest a replacement for the old Heatmaker. It is for a single apartment.

I am not familiar with the equipment you are talking about. Either post a picture or Make & Model #. Also, how many people are in your apt? And do you have a washing machine?

The heater is 3 floors down from the apartment. Two people live there & there are 2 thermostats – front & back. It’s about 1,800 sq. ft. It’s been fine up to now. Yes, there is a stackable washer/dryer in the apt. on a separate gas line. The mfr. of the water boiler is Weil McLain. There’s a separate water heater, also in the basement. The problem I’m having is w/ the unit that heats the water for the heating system. (I’m ignorant of proper terms for these things.)

As I’m heading out of town in about 3 hours, I’m sorry but I can’t help you. Try B&D Heating or Gateway Plumbing & Heating. I recommend them both.
