'Fence permit' - anyone here took one out himself?

I think only if its under 6 feet. Title 27 / Subchapter 4 (b) Fences. – Fences not over six feet high may be erected of wood or other combustible material

You’re asking fo issues getting the DOB involved for just a fence. You’d be better off putting up a 6′ fence and having a trellis make up the extra height, all which can be done without a permit.
