Clinton Hill Library Plant Sale
The Brooklyn Public Library and the Friends of the Clinton Hill Branch is having a plant sale this Saturday, May 9 from 10 am to 4 pm. Come help support your local branch, as local gardeners and master horticulturists from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and New York City Parks & Recreation Department help you chose city-tough annuals, perennials and groundcovers for your backyard, terrace or school garden. We’ll have some tried and true sun-loving petunias, begonias and marigolds along with browallias and coleus for the shade. For those looking for full-sun plants, try some English tea roses, Japanese irises and peonies. More exotic offerings include hellebores, epimediums, ajuga and columbines. Noted gardening expert and author Charles Mazza of Cornell University will be on hand from 12-1 and 2-3 to answer gardening questions and help with plant selection. There will be fun children’s activities and musical performances by Rolie-Polie at 1 pm at 380 Washington Avenue between Greene and DeKalb Avenues. For additional information, call Neighborhood Library Supervisor Tracey Mantrone at 718.398.8713.
