Ha,, funny this is the only production show that gives no value of contribution for their venue program. At least they should pay the owner even half, this is not the cool house renovation show that I am seeing at FYI and HGTV channels. This offers seems came from not so branded company. Regards. Hi Catboot and Greenmountain. Let me clarify a few things that you brought up. – Torero Productions is a new production company started by three industry veterans of the reality TV world. This is the first show that this new company is producing. This is a new show that will be aired on a major cable network but since final negotiations with the network are ongoing we can not at this time disclose the name of the show or network. – The show is about one high end design build firm and the homeowners that undertake major renovations using this firm. – All principals featured on the show are fully licensed and insured and follow all applicable laws. This extends to all architects, engineers, designers and contractors to be featured. – The renovations featured on the show will typically be large scale, high end gut renovations of apartments and homes in the NYC area. As such all projects will be fully permitted and inspected by the respective department of buildings that has jurisdiction over the area that each project is located in. Thanks

In my earlier post I intended to write “misclassified independent contractors,” which is a common way to get workers without actual employment. Catboot has a point. It would be nice to know what production company? what TV program? Is this an episode of a show we already know, or a new one?

I looked at your website, and you say: “The show will be centered around one of NYC’s top design build firms and will chronicle the unique realities of the architectural, design and building process that is required in NYC to create a luxurious residence.” The reality I see for many home owners who seek my service is they want “top,” pay for less, or believe they paid for top, but get less. Some architects on this site, have repeatedly pointed out the conflict of interest of design build. How will the home owner be represented by their designer in code compliance, allocation of resources, and communications with contractor, if the designer and contractor is the same? Will the design-build firm file the job with the DOB, and also pull the permit with the same name as the GC? Will all contractors and subs be licensed with the DCA? Will all present certificates of compensation insurance? Will there be classified independent contractors? If the NYC DOL audits or the NYC DCA seizes a vehicle, or the NYC DOB takes action, will that be covered? What about the opinions and feelings of neighbors? Will disputes over parking spaces, fences and debris be part of reality? What about the reality of home owners who truly can not afford the top design build firm? What about the reality of workers? Will you cover how many paid sick days they have? Lead paint exposure? Toxic effect of bathtub “reglazing” chemicals? What is the rate of pay for different workers, and how does that compare to the pay rates of the home owners who can afford the top design build firm?

Hi carmen. Homeowners will be paying for the majority of the renovation but we will be assisting in the form of discounted labor and materials. We have lined up multiple vendors who have agreed to provide highly discounted materials such as fixtures, appliances, cabinets etc.
