Bedstuy condo type: red brick top 3/4, grey brick lower
I am currently in contract for a 2 BR condo in Brooklyn. It is new construction, never before lived in. As I’ve explored the neighborhood, I’ve noticed a lot of similar looking buildings using the same contractor, Tiadong Zheng. The condos are new, with the top 3/4 of the building in red brick and the lower portion painted dark grey. Pic attached. I can’t find any info about the contractor or developer. Is anyone familiar with these buildings? I’d love to hear about the quality of construction.

I would assume that corners were cut and the cheapest materials used. But that’s just me. These things pop up like mushrooms after the rain….

I’ve never lived in a newly built building, but from what I’ve read here, and in the newspapers, buying a condo in one is taking a really big risk because of the prevalence of shoddy construction. Perhaps your building is better than most. Good luck!

Thanks for the response, I do indeed wish we could have found something with more character. Square footage and floorplan won out in the end. I?ve seen that info before, but haven?t been able to uncover much else. Figured that there were enough of these that someone on brownstoner might have spent time in one. Any tips for further googling would be appreciated. Thanks again!

These bland buildings are popping up all over BedStuy. Here is the info on the contractor: http://www.checkpermits.com/contractor/tiadong-zheng Here is the DOB file. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/ResultsByNameServlet?bizname=H+%26+G+Construction+I&licensetype=G&go2=+GO+&requestid=0 They do business under H & G Construction Inc. With the above info you can google your way to a lot more info.
