Does anyone know what is happening at 87 MacDonough St,  The Ladies Tent Lodge?  I see that they have divided the land with a fence.  Did tell sell the property?

The house itself is landmarked, but  the property behind it, which technically is on Macon St. is not landmarked. If the old carriage house, that can be seen in old photos, was still there, it might be another story, but that was gone long before the area was designated, and the site was not included. (There is a photo of that carriage house in Part 2 of my Walkabout piece linked below.) That part of Macon Street is not in any historic district, so unfortunately, if they put up Fedders, there’s not much anyone can do about it. I really hope that something better is planned. BTW, the sale of the property was to facilitate some much needed repairs to the house, among other things. The Landmarks Conservancy, as well as the LPC, and the community, are very committed in seeing this special property preserved and protected. It’s not going to get plowed under. It would be great to preserve the entire estate, but that is just not possible, and the grounds are large enough that selling the back end is a feasible compromise in order to get funding for the house, which is the prize here, historically speaking. Thanks, hate the fact that they had to sell any of the land.  I hope that since Macdonough is ladmarked that anything they build on that side of the property will have to be approved by landmarks.

I believe they subdivided their land and sold off the vacant land facing Macon Street. I assume it is to a developer. Hopefully, they won;t put up a fedders building. I don’t think the ownership of the building itself has changed. I do wish the building would be fixed up.
