44 S Oxford St.

Does anyone know the history of 44 S. Oxford St in Ft Greene? I’ve been living on the street for a couple of years and am mystified how a building can remain derilict on one of the best blocks in Brooklyn. It appears to be owned by a JC Chasop INC and has been vacant for many years.

rehab permit filed yesterday, you can see it on DOB, along with owners name.  as for the story, best people who usually know these things are long time homeowners on the block.

44 was most likely built in 1864.  It was  originially owned by Joseph H. Cunningham a alcohol merchant.  Not sure what happened in more recent history.
