Any recs for where to get a door like this? I want a full glass, standard size door to open out to my deck. Also, any idea of ballpark cost?

Worth it to get Pella or Andersen? Though I’m not looking for high end, just something basic with solid energy efficiency.

Thanks for your thoughts.

  1. Last year I bought a Simpson door for my patio. It is a wood door with weatherproof cladding on the outside. It has a large single light of double paned insulated glass and with an efficiency value that allowed me to apply for the energy tax credit. I ordered it through Dykes Lumber. They have a catalog of styles you can choose from, but I found it most helpful to get on the phone with Simpson. I paid around $600.00

  2. I bought one several years ago from a lumber yard off 4th Ave. [near Dean, I think]. It was reasonable and I easily installed it myself. Only problem….I’m not 100% sure that lumber yard still exists.

  4. Contact me at housereno @ earthlink dot net. I just took out such a door — in middle of major reno — as well as iron door with screen — and would like to sell very cheap. If measurements fit, this could be a win/win for us both.

  5. I got mine from Park Slope Glass. A place I’ll frequent again when hell freezes over. What a bunch of shysters.

  6. try window palace on Mcdonald ave in Brooklyn. They are fast with delivery and cheaper than Home Depot. I got one like that a few years ago.
