It’s truly amazing how the South Slope Latino community is so ready to hijack the SW corner of the park every holiday weekend for their enormous bar-b-ques. Even more fascinating though is the amount of plastic crap they leave thrown about for the rest of us to find the next morning.

  1. Sloper – who do you blame for the litter after St Patrick’s Day parade, Bastille Day, et al? Surely those events are not being infiltrated by hordes of Latinos???

And for goodness sake, don’t ever get too close to “your people” – say after Oktoberfest, or a saturday night on the Champs-Élysées or Grafton Street and please, under no circumstances, visit Rome.

    Crowds litter. Unfortunately.

That said, if you go back and review the video, you will see tons of trash with limp black garbage bags next to it. Someone took the trouble to put garbage in a bag and something else (an animal) took the trouble to remove it. It happened last night to my trash on the sidewalk and I am as white as the driven snow.

  2. see if you just left town for the weekend like the rest of us affluent, intolerant nimby types, you wouldn’t be so bitter.

    Live and learn.

  3. “Now, if you can force yourself to be honest, look at who it is. Germans? French? Chinese? Blacks? Whites? No. ”

I was in the park on the 4th on the north side, and trash was also strewn everywhere there, including within 15 feet of a dumpster. The groups around us were white and black. So you’re saying that the latinos ran 15 blocks to the north to dump their trash on the ground and then went home?

  4. Yes Rob it certainly happens throughout the hood too. But really, Ive never considered the south slope to be the hood. It’s quite clean in fact. Which makes it even more frustrating that people are clean in their own homes, but not in the public space that they share….

  5. FYI, I’m not Latino. But I don’t think I’ll tell ya who “my people” are because I’m sure you’ll have something to say about them too.

  6. Uh, that makes absolutly no sense whatsoever. I have no sense of racial superiority. Im not racist. Im an advocate for equal rights across all races, genders, sex, and age.

What you people want to do is pull out the race card to justify why littering is OK. It’s the lamest weakest defense Ive ever heard. This is not about race folks. This is not about the Latinos, EXCEPT that by observation, it is obvious that the offending groups of people happen to be Latino. It is only relevant that they are Latino because the fact that they are dropping trash everywhere is related to the fact that they are so commonly out in the park having huge family picnics together. There is nothing wrong with the big family picnic as their culture. But what IS a problem is that they dont do it responsibly.

I dont have a problem with the people. I have a problem with the behavior.
    That’s not racist.

  7. um why is it even shocking that ghetto behavior takes place in a park that is surrounding on two sides by ghettos!?

duh. that park is stank anyway.

not a race thing, it’s a hood mentality thing.

    *rob*
