Need to do a medium size kitchen (10 x 10) with new cabinets. Are there any stores, factory, outlets or showrooms in the NYC area where one can get a nice discount on new kitchen cabinets? Would like something nicer than box stores, but ultra-luxe is way out of our budget.. so something in between.

  1. Just an FYI for future readers. I took the suggestion of Susan above and went to European Kitchen Center. They did have some nice stuff, but prices even for the lowest end were probably more twice the big box price. What really killed it though was the fact that I went there in early July and they told me because the Italian factory is closed in August that I likely wouldn’t have the cabinets until mid October and they also admitted to having lots of backed up jobs waiting in their warehouse so there would be a line in front of me of earlier buyers calling for installation. As such, I assumed knowing how things go that it would be mid November until I could get them installed. As this was a rental of ours and we’d lose almost more in lost rent than I’d spend on the cabinets, EKC did not get the order. PS- When I first went in, it would have saved everyone time if they had just told me that until waiting until my second trip there after I had all the measurements. Grrrr…

  2. Check out E-wood Flooring and Cabinets at 4902 2nd Ave Brooklyn. The prices are comparable to your big box Home Depot stores. However, they have a huge array of wood types and finishes and the cabinets are made of true solid wood. Quality is much better compared with big box store types and custom made to fit your kitchen.

  3. European Kitchen Center in NYC has kitchens that are nicer than Ikea, rivaling the high-end ones, but are not nearly as expensive. They installed well also.

  4. Have you looked at Green demolitions? They take donations of kitchens (many never used) and resell them for a non-profit organization. They have some really beautiful high end kitchens that they sell for 1/2 or 1/3 off. You have to keep looking as they get new stock in frequently. even thought many of the kitchens that they sell are larger than what you might need it may be worth it to buy more than you need because the price will be lower than going to the store
greendemolitions.com (or .org) I forget which one.
