Time Warner Cable missed my appointment this morning. Trying to get them to make up for it, and came later this afternoon, I was told that they wouldn’t guarantee. but if they showed up, and I wasn’t home, they would charge me $40.

(Time Warner also claimed I missed the appointment, and that they called me. This is a complete lie — my cellphone record will prove it. And i waited by the window, by my door for two hours.)
Since I found the possible payment of $40 unacceptable, and I had to get to work, I asked to reschedule. They offered an appointment for next week (after having already waited 1 week for this appointment.)

I am pretty fed up, and want to talk to someone there with some power to do something. Does anyone have a contact?

  1. This happened to me. I actually called the president of TWC for NY…I had a next day appointment and was given a month of cable as “restitution”

  2. Arrrg for what it’s worth, same thing has happened to us with National Grid multiple times. But they didn’t charge us. Scream bloody murder if they charge you. Otherwise, all you can do is reschedule. Then call them the night before — not kidding — to confirm. And then call them again in the morning at the beginning of the appt window and ask where they are. It works. Unbelievable, ain’t it?

  3. I’ve had success complaining with the state. All of the sudden you become a valued customer…

  4. They DON’T have a monopoly–there’s also satellite TV.

I’ve found DirectTV to be quite responsive when I have a [rare] problem. Of course Cablevision, rather than Time Warner, has the franchise for my neighborhood and, since they haven’t deigned to wire most Lefferts Manor blocks, I’ve never actually been able to compare satellite to cable.

  5. File a complaint with DOITT. It really works. Fill in the on-line form, and someone from TWC corporate has to call you within 24-48 hours. They usually call w/in 24 hours, or else DOITT will take them to administrative court.

You should get a free month of service at minimum. The last time TWC didn’t show up for an appointment (on a Thursday), i filed a complaint, and they magically found an appointment that Saturday at noon.
