I had an excellent experience with Dow & Company. Very
professional every step of the way and stayed exactly on
schedule even with significant items added to the job,
including extensive plaster skim-coating. The workers
were self-starting, skilled, fast, clean, neat, friendly,
helpful and good-natured; owner of the company was
available on very short notice and always extremely helpful
and patient with questions, complaints, or additional requests.
Very impressed by extensive and meticulous clean-up at job’s
end, not to mention a nearly flawless final result, totally satisfied,
totally. Would recommend Dow and Company without reservation;
I assume somewhere near the top of the market in terms of cost
but worth every, every cent. You may call me at work if you have
any questions.

  1. We can all appreciate how well Mr. Kowalczyk expresses himself.

It is too bad that the work that he and his company are doing no longer rises to the standards that he defends here.

Seems that he has been cultivating a reputation as a competent wallpaper hanger. It is too bad that this reputation is undeserved.

Dow and his partner were hired by us last year to hang paper in our foyer, and living room. Aside from consistently arriving late enough to significantly tie up our schedule, despite asking for top dollar, the work when completed was only mediocre, at best. Overall, very disappointing.

  2. Thank you for your comment. A friend of mine had also wondered if it wasn’t just another lame contractor trying to push down the competition. Given that they made no effort to
explain themselves or give any useful detail on either accusation, I think it seems likely.

I am heartened that you and others now know that this practice may be infecting the integrity of the recommendations on this site. But regardless, the cream always rises to the top and
good contractors will always do well as real word-of-mouth spreads about the quality of their work.

Best of luck to you and thanks again for chiming in on thi.

  3. Good point Dow – someone posted some “suspicious” commentary about another contractor (Nick at Leakmaster Roofing) and when I did my own diligence the owner and company turned out to be amazing…

FYI – I think there is one person who always posts this in response to a recommendation. He is recognizable by the syntax of the comments.

  4. Dear Sir or Miss,

You do me great harm and embarrass yourself when you express unfounded suspicions about myself or other reputable contractors with whom you have never worked. Shame on you. One thoughtless comment like yours does far more damage to my good reputation than a dozen positive postings. It is very disheartening.

Do you not question the ethics of posting negative comments based on mere suspicions and rumor? And is a glowing recommendation itself cause for alarm? My Lord, it is my job to make my customers happy. That’s what I do and I am very good at doing it.

Had you taken the time to confirm your suspicions by calling Mr. Kelly or myself before posting your comment you had you would have discovered that his recommendation is quite legitimate and was justly earned a few months ago under very difficult working contions, which makes his enthusiasm about our fine work all the more pertinent.

In the future I request that you extend to myself and others…

    1. The decency of performing your own due diligence before declaring that your suspicions have any merit.

    2. The courtesy of posting negative comments only if you have had first-hand experience with the person or business you are denouncing. To do otherwise is thoughtless and hurtful.

    Sincerely,
    Dow Kowalczyk
