What’s pitiful is that Brownstoner can’t run a single thread about a viable area of B’stone Bklyn, without the trolls shutting it down. Love it, hate it, or don’t care either way, PLG is a part of brownstone Brooklyn, and Mr. B should be able to post a thread, or a listing about homes there without the incessant, silly, over the top trollage, the perpetrator(s) of which seem to have made it their life’s mission to bring the nabe down. Shame, whoever you are. You ruin it for all of us.

Sorry, but where was the fire? Was it the theater? Now that we’ve established no one was hurt, were the architectural details damaged? Does anyone know?
I have been a faithful brownstoner reader since the site was an infant, chronicling Mr. B.’s reno and nothing else, when 99 out of 100 comments were spam. I had to walk uphill (both ways) in the snow barefoot to read brownstoner. So I do know the readers very well.
There are two separate and very different things going on on brownstoner in general, and you’re lumping them together. One (and I find it a problem too) is that many discussions degenerate into the sincere bashing of Park Slope moms, or certain neighborhoods, or what have you. It doesn’t seem to matter what the topic or the problem, there are two or three scapegoats that get dragged through the mud, and once a topic turns to a discussion about those scapegoats it’s difficult to steer it right again.
The second thing going on is what happened on this thread. Someone on a website about architecture dared to make a comment about architecture, and was called as asshole for commenting on the architecture instead of the people. Since this was funny, and stupid, and inane, the pigs ran with it and made fun of this exchange. We were not making fun of a fire. We were making fun of political correctness in general. If you want to extrapolate a few sarcastic comments into the downfall of civilization as we know it, I suggest you stock up on Pepto Bismol. But I for one find political correctness mind-numbingly stupid and will continue to make fun of it when it rears its simple-minded head.
