Yesterday The Times penned a farewell to Monster Island, the Williamsburg art space that’s going to be razed to make way for a new development. (According to rumors, Whole Foods is interested in opening a location there.) Today a tipster pointed us to Monster Island’s Facebook page, which has photos of the mural on the building being painted over yesterday afternoon. According to the muralist, “On Sunday at 3pm we will be pouring paint from the rooftop over the mural project I’ve conducted for the last 7 years. The building will be demolished in a few weeks, so rather than let the wrecking ball do dirty work, we will draw the proverbial curtain in one, synchronized action.” Go here for a few more bittersweet shots.
