walentasIt’s full speed ahead for Two Trees’ plan to build a six-story, 37-unit rental building on the parking lot adjacent to the Independence Bank at Court and Atlantic. After a couple of snags — CB7 ding’d the original plan back in ’05 and LPC said no to demolishing a small side building early last year — the project is reportedly a go. The project is definitely back up again, project manager Sam Charney told the Brooklyn Paper. LPC has given the thumbs-up to the facade and construction is supposed to start by summer. The hunt is now on for a retailer who can handle to the old bank space.

And speaking of Two Trees projects, 110 Livingston now has its own blog. Two enterprising new owners in the building have started a blog called 110Livingston.net (not to be confused with the development’s official site at 110Livingston.com) to “build an online community among residents, share information, and chronicle the construction and move-in process.” The most recent post highlights DOT’s plan (but lack of implementation) to spiff up the Boerum Place corridor.

  1. Your article doesn’t quite describe it accurately – a new 6 story rental apartment building is going up in the adjacent parking lot. The bank building will remain as it is on the exterior and be restored, and the inside banking hall will be some big retail space.

  2. 8:36, that was the original plan, but the design has changed and Sovereign nee Independence will stay in the Court House apartment building.

oh, and this is community district 6, not 7

  3. I thought originally the bank was going to move back in after construction (bank is now called Sovereign). I think originally South Brooklyn Savings Bank.
Very impressive inside. Hope stays a bank.
