The new building at the corner of Steuben Street and Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill is just a few glass panels short of having its entire skin. From the looks of it, they’re just starting to frame out the walls on the inside so occupancy’s still several months off. When it’s done, though, the Gary Shoemaker-designed condominium will contain 35 market-rate one- and two-bedroom apartments plus 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. Given all the flap over the lack of affordable housing at 163 Washington, it’s interesting that there hasn’t been a peep about this building. Could it be that it’s not going to ruin the sunlight in anyone’s backyard?

  1. Don’t worry – the realtors who sell it will rumor that there will be a whole foods, equinox, and watertaxi stop coming to the building. Also, they’ve heard that there’s plans to open a W hotel on Ryerson and Park.

  2. I am moving to the area and I am hoping that the retail will be either a good grocer, like a Whole Foods, or a fitness center. My only issue in moving to Myrtle over there is that the gyms are all a hike from there. PLEASE somebody put a gym in that area! If anyone knows what retail is planned, please post it.

  3. I am happy this building is here. I am happy to see Myrtle being developed farther out. I am sick of the people on this site who put down every new building. I think it looks good on Myrtle and am glad it’s not a crappy fedders type building. I welcome more development in this area on Myrtle in Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy. I hope it brings more people to the area. AND buying in this location is more affordable than most other buildings, even if it’s not cheap. Great area to invest in.
