This Scarano-designed development at 353 Prospect Place isn’t going anywhere fast. It received a SWO way back in 2008, then again in January of this year, and most recently at the end of August. This most recent SWO, which is still in effect, was for failure to maintain the stalled development, citing that there isn’t a fence around the perimeter of the construction site. It is supposed to be a four-floor, ten-unit building. Can’t imagine the wait is much fun for the neighbors. GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. I’ve seen crews there once or twice over the last couple years. They come for a day or two with a lot of equipment and then leave as soon as they came!

  2. A blight on my neighborhood. Nothing has changed—except the sidewalk crumbling into dust; the fence falling on a few occasions and laying there for weeks, forcing pedestrians to walk in street; or the weeds growing 5+ feet high in summer.

I know this because my wife and I bought our apt. in May, 2007 right down the street and we walk past this eyesore on a daily basis. Shame on Scarano. Raze it a put in a community garden.

and the same goes for the Scarano stillbirth on St. Marks Place btw Grand and Classen. It’s been in the same state for the same amount of time. The only one benefiting from these half-dead bldgs are rats.
