south 3rd
Speaking of Williamsburg, the development on South 3rd and Bedford is moving along. For some reason, we like this color brick more than the off-yellows and drab browns that have characterized other recent erections. Maybe it’s just the change of pace. Otherwise, seems like another uninspired addition to the South Side landscape.

  1. Another disgustion Scarano project… will probably be sold by those morons at the developers group, wonder why they sell alot of Scarano projects? I a bad brokerage firm andna bad architect go hand in hand.

  2. re:setback>>> I think it a architectural thing, you can build higher if you set it back from the property line etc.
(In theory, it is supposed to provide more light and space to neighboring buildings, as opposed to the dense clustering of older construction)

  3. I agree it’s nothing “special” but it’s certainly far from the worst I’ve seen, and better than most stuff that’s put up in NYC these days.

One thing that gets me with all this new development is why it’s always set back from the street line, it breaks up the rhythm of the block, and makes the streetscape look messier.
