Development of the Day: Highpoint Condos
We drove past the Highpoint Condos last week and were not too impressed: The Thing looks like a Howard Johnsons. Located at 560 7th Avenue, the eleven-unit building (all but one of which are two-bedrooms) comes with six parking spots ($25,000 each) and General Electric appliances. Located at 560 7th Avenue, the eleven-unit building (all but one of which are two-bedrooms) comes with six parking spots ($25,000 each) and General Electric appliances. The interiors look less compelling to us than those down the road at Sky 485. The location is also worse, on the avenue and right across from the entrance ramp to the Prospect Expressway. Three of the eleven units are in contract so far, all on the upper floors where prices are closer to $550 a foot versus less than $500 a foot on the lower floors.
560 7th Avenue [Corcoran] GMAP
It’s so retro early 90’s. The chunkiness, the boxiness, the arches.
Lowpoint Condos
It’s just an ugly condo and the location was just plain silly for the developer to choose.
It will eventually sell out – at the right price point.
There are many nice condos going up (or already occupied) in south slope; don’t think there is a “glut.” that seems a tad bit dramatic IMO. maybe williamsburg but not in South Slope.
Can anyone say “C of O” problem?
They have had SWO’s once a month on the front door since they started showing the place. Supposedly the condos are nicely finished, but the building…YUCK! Already falling apart, stucco coming off, dry wall damaged.
POS! We pass by this fugly almost every other day.
Stay far away!
This has got to be the worse condo development yet. Aside from the fact that its across the street from a car wash and fugly gas station, its also across from IS88 which isnt a great school and whose students are obnoxious.
Why spend this kind of money when you can buy an entire house a few blocks away on a better block??
I was at the OH too. When was that, April? The apartments are nice enough, but I’m not surprised that many are still for sale. Across the street are the expressway, a car wash and the cemetery. The block is not the best. I think the ground floor was window was a victim of graffiti and had to be replaced.
In my un-scientific observation, there appears to be a glut of available condos in Greenwood Heights, and I know of at least 3 developments very close to this that are near completion.
I went to the OH for these months ago. Nothing special, nothing particularly offensive. At the time, we talked about how the first floor unit was right on the street with no privacy or noise barriers. I recently saw that they’re advertising “Seller pays the transfer taxes” on this unit. They’ll have to offer a better incentive than that to sell the first floor space.
Does anyone have any information on the condos for sale on 17th between 8th avenue and Prospect Park West? Prices aren’t bad – but they want 50 grand for the parking spots!
