It was pretty clear this new two-family at 112 Underhill Avenue was going to be a disaster to look at from the beginning. Gotta love the Fedders branding. Should be a really boost for the marketing effort.

  1. Gotta send a big “F U” to the developer/architecht, on the off chance someone alerts her to this post. It doesn’t have to be ugly to be affordable. Get the F out of this borough.

  2. The 2007 Prospect Heights House Tour brochure included a photo of this very location (well, actually the building immediately to the left) from the NYC early 1940s’ survey archive. Back in the day it was a charming vernacular woodframe building with two store fronts — a grocery store and laundry, if I recall. The theme of that year’s house tour was the community’s campaign for landmark status and we used the photo to illustrate a horribly altered building. I often thought what a great project it would be to buy and restore it, building out to the right in a simple 19th century style. But I guess someone got there before me! Ironically, this new monstrosity joins several other modern disasters at this corner, Underhill and Prospect Pl. Somehow fugly attracts fugly.

  3. If only Fedders could change their covers to match the facade’s of the buildings instead of seeing the name Fedders screamming at you like 100 times.
If I ever had a house built, I would never use fedders anything, I hate even just the name.
