It was pretty clear this new two-family at 112 Underhill Avenue was going to be a disaster to look at from the beginning. Gotta love the Fedders branding. Should be a really boost for the marketing effort.

  1. Total disaster. Is it really so hard to spend an extra $50 at Home Depot for normal-sized windows? These people should be flogged with dead animals.

  2. I think a one-eyed architect with a squint would be insulted. I’m sure they could do better than this shiite box. If I had the money, I’d buy it just to tear it down.

  3. I wish there was something we could do about architects/developers like this. They have no right to be in this business. It really upsets me. Fedders are a ugly problem, but it is still the responsibility of the designer to make them less obvious (it is possible). Clearly its a stairwell or bathroom where the portholes are located but again this is such an obvious design flaw and an easy solution. Its like they let their 4 yr old draw up the floor plans and never looked back. There is another building on the corner of 4th Ave and President that also has a shear wall of brick, instead of windows, due to a stairwell. Stupidity.

The fence isn’t going to make a slight difference, no mater what. At this point they should just go for extra hideous points and add a chrome fence with brass finials.

  4. Design question: Why couldn’t the fedders have been put on the side??

I too am interested in the full “reveal” when the plywood fence comes down. We may be pleasantly surprised.

And, i hope this means a return of Horror Show Friday or did you just sneak this in because benson’s out of town???
