This just in: Plans to restore the Hotel Bossert to its original use as a hotel can proceed, now that Board of Standards and Appeals ruled unanimously to approve the new owners’ request for a variance to change the certificate of occupancy. The new CofO will allow for transient hotel use, accessory hotel use, and commercial use at 98 Montague Street, the Montague Street BID informed us today. As you may recall, the property was once one of Brooklyn’s most elegant hotels. In November, developers David Bistricer and Joseph Chetrit bought it from the Jehovah’s Witnesses for $81 million. As previously reported, they hope to reopen as a hotel this summer.
