Here’s a rendering made by the architect who designed 20 Bayard Street (shown at far right) in Greenpoint. Of particular note to the tipster who scanned it and sent it in was how nice the Southern edge of McCarren Park is made to look. If the park does indeed end up looking like this, ‘twould be good for property values. Which makes us wonder why the developers around the park don’t all just chip in a couple million bucks to whip it into shape? GMAP

  1. amen on the L train comment. it’s already an ugly situation.

    as for the park, the city is already renovating it, albeit slowly. brand new high-tech faux-grass (not astroturf) and a new track are already completed over by the main development area. now work is starting on the area surrounding the track. i’m not too sure what plans are in store for the other discrete sections of the park. looks like tax payers–not developers–are picking up the tab as the park’s department seems to be prominently involved in the process.
