A tipster sent in this fresh photo of 668 6th Avenue, the latest in a not-so-proud tradition of small new developments in the South Slope and Greenwood Heights. It looks like they scaled back the height some since a reader last pointed out that the rendering for the 50-foot building broke the zoning law that caps new developments of this size at 40 feet. This will be a four-unit building.

  1. I think people here are overreacting a bit much, partly due to herd mentality common in threads like this. Once the ball rolls it doesn’t stop. Let’s give this bldg a chance. It’s only one pic. Personally, i don’t think it looks bad at all. Have u seen the rest of the area? Not so great.

  2. Wow this is sooo unimaginative and ugly it actually makes the buildings either side look OK. I still dont get the arrogance of architects who have to impose their correspondence course diplomas on a locality crying out for some consistent style. What overwheening conceit.

  3. daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmn.

that’s one ugly-ass building. I hope they add some striped awnings over the windows, and a purple mailbox, and an orange front door, and big huge lucite building numbers, and glittering sidewalks to complete the picture. I would.

  4. I agree with Greenwood
This part of the nabe has nearly NO nice original homes and the one’s that might be original aren’t being kept up well
I think there are more woodframe houses down on 15th street or 16th street than 21st street.
It’s not that bad in person – I don’t particularly like the windows they chose – they look cheap, but those glass blocks could be cool and the brick work seems decent enough

This part of the nabe is a total hodgepodge of craptastic houses/buildings and I don’t mean the new developments that have come up

  5. That’s very true, Snappy. I’m still pretty new at all this and don’t want to come across as unfairly pointing any fingers.
