150 4th Avenue Getting Glassy
150 4th Avenue, the hulking Ismael Leyva-designed development, is getting its glass on. True to the rendering the top floors are nothing but glass, and the lower floors will be featuring floor-to-ceiling windows. This full-exposure window effect is popping up more and more around Brooklyn. What do you think of it? Would you invest in…

11214,
I do, I clean my windows at least once a month, they tilt in and are easy to clean.
It is no big deal.
I think dirty windows make the whole apartment / house, whatever, disgusting looking…….
Now I see why most people have dirty windows, with your attitude towards it….
Looks alright to me so far.
I’m with 11217 on the window thing. I live in a post-war building with 18 feet of windows in my living room. It was love at first sight.
Hopefully there is some low E glass there. Even then, if you don’t want to pay 500/mo in summer for those damn selfcontained units, a MUST to put up blinds,
see through grey office stuff best
Another stellar piece of architecture for the “Park Avenue of Brooklyn.”
It’s a strange brownstoner phenomenon of not liking too many windows, I think. The dark cavernous spaces have made your brains rot forgetting that MOST people love lots of light, huge windows and views. They don’t treat the idea of window coverings like the lock ness monster either.
And stargazer, what person do you know…in a house in the burbs, in a brownstone or in an apartment cleans their windows once a month? The only time that happens is in tall office towers…most people are not nearly that anal. A rainstorm like today would have done a great job of cleaning some glass.
I do love the choice in bricks on this one.
But, I did like the tenements before.
Top-down, bottom-up shades are a must. Before closing people should be required to sign a disclosure warning them about the aesthetic problems of vertical blinds.
The floor to ceiling windows are nice obviously for the views, but how on earth do they get cleaned from the outside. With the city being the city, soot and dirt is everywhere…..and what good are windows like that when they are constantly dirty???
I just don’t get why they choose to do this.
How often does the window washers come, i would hope at least once a month…..
I just can’t stand dirty windows, it makes me crazy!!
This one looks decent in person.
And I’m kinda liking the glass. A bit classier than the usual.
