Worse Kind of Yuppie Now Invading 'Burg

Now that the battle’s clearly been lost against the relatively inoffensive yuppies of the creative classes in Williamsburg (read: non-Wall Street types who still make enough dough, or have parents who make enough dough, to buy a new condo within walking distance of the Bedford L train), locals have something far worse to get their hackles up about: conspicuous banker frat boys who treat the North Side like an extension of the Lower East Side. Case in point was one local (hardly an old-timer, mind you: she’s live in the Burg since 2004) quoted in The Post this weekend: “I went to Walter Foods, and there was this long table of obvious Manhattanites who were partying with the wild abandon of people who know they won’t run into anyone they know. They were acting like they were in Cancun, doing tons of shots, screaming, falling asleep sitting up. Meanwhile, I’m trying to have a nice dinner with my mom. It was hideous.

how can someone be ‘obvious Manhattanite’? another stupid stereotype.
“……ever notice that the ones who tsk-tsk the most also are the loudest voices concerning the need for “diversity”? Make that “politically-correct diversity”.”
The What throws Benson a Box of Oxycontin!!!
Just beautiful! Hey Benson where are you?????——–>

Benson, what I’ve noticed is those that tsk tsk for diversity are the same people who don’t want to send their kids to school with the local latino population.
I thought yuppies was a code word for ambitious, upwardly-mobile, preppy types, the fifth-column of the GOP in urban centers? Are drunken douchebags yuppies too?
just fell asleep reading this post.
I see that you’re trying to incite the debate…
But, gotta say, bankers are a lot less annoying than the stylists, interior decorators, creative “marketers” and advertising directors of the burg.
One reason for this? Bankers actually make the money they spend. I still have a hard time understanding how any interior decorator or stylist that I’ve never heard of can afford an $800K condo. And yet, I’ve met like ten people who fit this description. I mean, more power to those who can — but there seems to be some disconnect from reality.
this whole concept is kinda strange.. i mean, whatever, if you wanna live in the damn ghetto and not be around yuppies, then well, move to the damn ghetto! there’s a gazillion neighborhoods in nyc that fit that description. im assuming the person who wrote this is a young white college educated male who has his manties in a twist because people who make more money than he are moving into the neighborhood and having fun.
granted i cant stand yuppies much myself, but newsflash they aint gonna shoot you in the face.
*rob*
Wait until it turns to real anger…
Remember about the “Keep messing around” thang.
When NYC is in a depression I hope the Asshats can cope with being a “New Yorker’.
