Work has begun on a corner section of 345 Adams Street in Downtown in advance of the eventual arrival of Panera Breads. Scaffolding’s gone up on a portion of the facade along Adams Street, where the arches on the building along Willougby Street will be recreated. (You can see a rendering of how the finished product is supposed to look on the 345 Adams website.) Construction on the facade should last until the end of the summer, and interior work on the Panera is expected to start at some point during that process, according to a rep for Muss Development, which owns the first two floors of the building. The eatery, which signed a 4,500-square-foot lease last year, will have space on the building’s first and second floors.
Panera Coming to Downtown Brooklyn [Brownstoner] GMAP
Last time I went to Van Horn, lunch took an hour-an-a-half including travel time. Not a problem for me, BH76, but a deal-buster for anyone strictly limited to an hour break.
More larger and credit tenants in market than spaces so i am afraid you are going to see more chains coming….
I am with wine lover. And for the price of a sandwich there, you can get a really good one at Van Horn.
Any word on the other two spaces? The second space is small, about 1500 sf, but the main space next to Morton’s is huge. Could see a big restaurant (needed) or a clothing chain go in there. Any word on the street? Also what’s the buzz on who is going into the new City Point building?
When all the construction is done on the facade and the pedestrian plaza is complete, 345 Adams is going to look pretty slick.
panera baked goods are horrible. bread is probably fine, but yuck overall. bad chain. actually think starbuck’s pastries and bagels are way better.
Hate to disagree…
But the bread is fresher and better than the local competition. Bagels not up to snuff though. Can’t understand what took them so long. They will do incredibly well with those who have jobs and want a bite to eat.
Have frequented them since they were the St. Louis Bread Company.
Admittedly, they have lost a bit as they expand. Nature of the beast I guess.
I am not a fan of Panera. And I’m not a “I hate chains” sort of person. Panera is just soooooo damn mediocre and simultaneously expensive. It’s like a whole restaurant version of the bad food you get at Starbucks.
