The Wiz

Enjoy this holiday season with a historic twist at the Weeksville Heritage Center this weekend.

Weeksville, a subset of Crown Heights that was one of America’s first free black communities during the 19th century, will simultaneously celebrate the year-end holidays and the neighborhood’s heritage with a weekend of tours, local vendors and traditional season activities.

The holiday fun, which goes from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, will include free holiday arts and crafts workshops for all ages, handcrafted gifts and natural hair products from the vendors on Weeksville Way, free tours of the historic Hunterfly Road Houses from 2-4 p.m., and screenings of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Wiz.

The community celebration will take place at 158 Buffalo Avenue.
