Weekend Events: Halloween Edition

PLG Arts & PLGNA’s “Pop-Up”Group Show
Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association (PLGNA) and PLG Arts present The Neighborhood Show: Equal parts gallery, arts & crafts market, and performing arts venue and 100% Brooklyn, for two weeks. The Neighborhood Show will showcase artists living in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and surrounding Brooklyn communities with visual arts, music, spoken word, and crafts. The visual arts portion of this group show opens this Sunday at 552 Flatbush Avenue, at Maple Street. Nearly fifty local artists will be presented along with music, dance, and spoken arts and crafts shows. The show runs from Sunday, October 30 through November 13th. Hours will be 2:00 to 8:00 on week days; 10:00 AM–8:00 PM. Saturdays, and Noon to 6 PM on Sundays.

Gouls and Gourds at the BBG
Saturday at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens check out the Victoriana-themed Ghouls and Gourds event for families, a Halloween celebration chock full of giant puppets, merry music, hands-on workshops (like mustache-making!), flamingo croquet, a flying flea circus, local children’s book authors, and more—all against the backdrop of the Garden’s gorgeous fall color. Saturday, October 29, Noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine. Kids Under 12 Free!

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). And on Saturday we also hold Smorgasburg, at the same Williamsburg location. Come join us – and all our food, antique, vintage and art vendors – this weekend. Flea: 10am to 5pm, Smorg: 10am to 5pm. Always free.

The Park Slope Civic Council’s Children’s Halloween Parade
The Civic Council’s Halloween Parade has been a part of neighborhood life since 1986. Building on 25 years of community creativity, we’ll be looking for lots of Brooklyn’s ghostly history, alluring apparitions, and Park Slope phantasms to come out to celebrate, along with a heavy dose of skeletons and other creatures that go bump-in-the-night. The route brings together the many parts of Park Slope, connecting Seventh and Fifth Avenues. The phantom march starts at 14th Street and Seventh Avenue, moves north on Seventh Avenue, makes a left turn (west) on Third Street toward Fifth Avenue, and ends at the big field at Washington Park between Fourth and Fifth Avenue, with the great dance music of Hearts of Steel and Paprika until 8:30 p.m. Parade is Monday, Oct. 31, 6:30 p.m. Starts at 14th Street and Seventh Avenue.

Halloween at the Stockton Street Farm
We will be having a Halloween-Fest at the new Stockton St Farm on Oct 30th from 1-6pm. Free Food, face painting, costume contests and other fun activities for kids and families to enjoy!! We need food donations, decorations, candy, pumpkins, face painters, performers, ect… Please contact us to help with planning, food & activities. Families First Brooklyn Halloween Party 2011
Families First Brooklyn on Cobble Hill Brooklyn will be hosting a Halloween Party for babies and toddlers (0-4 year olds) on Sunday, October 30th 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A morning of frightfully good fun awaits: Games, Halloween Crafts, Snacks, Baked goods and drinks, Pumpkin Decorating, Professional, take home-photos (only $10), Goodie Bags and balloons for all kids! $10 per family, $8 for Families First members. It takes place Sunday October 30th from 9:30am – 12:30pm at 250 Baltic Street in the auditorium.

Society for Clinton Hill’s 18th Annual Halloween Walk
Monday, October 31st, all costumed trick or treaters up to age 12 are invited! The parade route starts at Pratt-Clinton Hill Community Garden (corner Dekalb and Hall) from 5 to 6:30pm. It will wind through the entire neighborhood. Rain or full moon!

Halloween in Prospect Park
There are tons of Halloween events this weekend at the park. The beloved Halloween Haunted Walk is back and scarier than ever! There’s also a carnival on the Nethermead featuring all kinds of fun, games and seasonal treats. And this year you can enjoy some tasty treats from NYC food trucks parked along Center Drive near the Nethermead. Check out all the details and times here.

Fort Greene Park Conservancy All Free Kids Halloween Festival
On Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 12 noon 3:00 pm, the Fort Greene Park Conservancy presents the 12th annual all free Halloween Festival in Brooklyn’s historic Fort Greene Park. Hundreds of children will be treated to hay rides, games, sack races, face painting, stilt-walkers, entertainers and their choice from 1000 free pumpkins to decorate and its all FREE. Plus there will be a costume parade and spooky cemetery with such luminaries in residence as Will B. Back and R U Next. The festival kicks off at 12 noon with a wild costume contest for dogs and their owners, The Great PUPkin, sponsored by Fort Greene PUPS, the local dog-owners organization.

Crow Hill Community Association’s 2nd Annual Franklin Ave Halloween Parade
Sunday, October 29th all kids are invited to come march through Crown Heights in their costumes. The parade beings at 3pm at 1096-99 Dean Street and ends at the Crow Hill Community Garden, where kids will be able to paint pumpkins. Bring noise makers or instruments!
