City Harvest will host its second annual The Brooklyn Local Event at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park (334 Furman Street) on Saturday, Sept. 22. The marketplace will be open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, and guests can expect more than 75 vendor booths highlighting local and gourmet food items as well as craft beer and wine. The Brooklyn Local showcases Brooklyn’s most delectable fares and event proceeds will help the City Harvest feed more hungry New Yorkers.

Free Play Reading in Park Slope: The Tiger Play
Dramahound Productions and Open Source Gallery present a reading of The Tiger Play by Anne Phelan and directed by Tamara Fisch at Open Source Gallery at 306 17th Street on Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 at 8:00 pm. The Tiger Play is based on the remarkable life of tiger tamer extraordinaire Mabel Stark. The play examines the love triangle between Mabel; her eventual husband, tiger tamer Louis Roth; and Mabel’s favorite tiger, Rajah. Katharine McLeod will play Mabel, and Michael Raimondi will play Louis Roth.
Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
Smorgasburg is now at its second weekly location in Brooklyn Bridge Park, at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Dumbo. It’ll be open every Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm through Nov. 18. Of course, on Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Avenue (between Clermont and Vanderbilt avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue and the East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry and amazing food. Flea: Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Smorg: Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. Free.
