“Beer & Bread” Fundraiser
Join us for an evening of bread and beer created using traditional 18th century recipes. The tasting will include five courses of bread — representing recipes from the Colonial era including crisp, nutty waffles, savory rusks, citrusy cookies and spicy sweet breads. Each bread will be matched with a beer brewed by Olsen and Prout that is seasoned with flavors such as spruce, ginger, mustard and molasses. The Gowanus Gala
The GCCDC cordially invites you to attend their annual gala at the historic Grand Prospect Hall. Join in to honor Caswell Holloway III, Commissioner, NYC DEP for his energetic leadership on an innovative plan to improve the canal water quality; Gita Nandan and her award winning firm Thread Collective, known for their passionate advocacy around sustainable issues and inspiring architectural designs and a special honoree which will be announced shortly. Myrtle Ave. Pedestrian Plaza Community Design Workshop
The design phase for the $6 million reconstruction of Myrtle Avenue between Hall and Emerson, including the 2-block-long pedestrian plaza, has officially begun, and the City’s selected engineering and landscape design firm, AECOM, will be facilitating a public workshop this Wednesday. Please join in and share your ideas for what type of programming, landscaping, and amenities you would like to see take shape at the future plaza. To RSVP, use the link above. Collectors’ Night
Up to two-dozen collectors from all over the city will display their personal collections; everything from an archive of newsstand paperweights to art museum dust to odd coin purses to souvenirs bearing the collector’s name. You too can have your collection on display! Bring in your collection (anything goes) in a jar and display it at the bar! We will also have a Collector’s Cocktail available one night only! “Town Hall” Meeting
State Senator Marty Golden will be hosting a Town Hall meeting this Thursday. Town Hall meetings provide constituents with the chance to interface with city agencies and other service providers, to get help with recurring problems, and to get updated on new policies and initiatives. Git Along Lil Doggies
Laboratory Theater’s newest work is a meditative, cowboy dance-drama about the spiritual imprint of the windswept landscape of the American west. In an impressionistic narrative drawn from a variety of sources, two outlaws on the trail of an old adversary take work as jewel thieves for a washed up brothel madam. In a chance encounter with a traveling magician, they locate their enemy and conjure the violent forces of nature through sex-magic to take revenge.
