This guided tour will cover all the historic buildings along Surf Avenue, as well as some of Coney’s existing landmarks. Learn more about Coney Island’s rich history, the importance of preserving it, and what Save Coney Island is doing to protect what remains of this extraordinary heritage. Second Sunday Series: The Night Shift
During this afternoon program children will come face-to-face with a nocturnal animal in the zoo classroom and will challenge their senses to learn how nocturnal animals get around in the dark. This program will also include a visit to the new Amazing Nocturnal Animals exhibit and creating a glow-in-the-dark take-home craft! To register call 718-399-7339 x326. The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. The Dodge YMCA: Zumba
The Dodge YMCA is a community service organization which promotes positive values through programs that build spirit, mind and body, welcoming all people with a focus on youth. Come to the Brooklyn Bridge Park to try out Zumba! Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness program. Seining the River Wild
Find out what lives in the waters under the Manhattan Bridge! Join in as they use a 30-foot seining net to catch fish and other remarkable East River creatures. Families and kids can take a good look at the fish before they release them back to their homes and keep a tally of the catch. Saturday, August 7. 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Free. Main Street, Beach under the Manhattan Bridge.

Children of Hangzhou
In this new exhibit, visitors meet a real family in Hangzhou, a Chinese city, and experience the impact of modernization on the lives of the girls and boys in a family that bridges old traditions and new ways of life. Inside recreated models of an apartment, pagoda, open-air market, classroom, and rice field, and shopping mall, visitors try hands-on activities and participate in the lives of the local children as they go about their daily play, school life, and work in today’s China.
