Shirley Temple shines as Rebecca Winstead, the very self-reliant and gifted radio entertainer who moves to Sunnybrook Farm to live with her cranky old aunt. Aunt Miranda absolutely forbids her niece from entering show business, but, this being a Shirley Temple film, the show must go on. Waterfront Planning Committee
The Department of City Planning is currently preparing Vision 2020, The NYC Comprehensive Waterfront Plan, and help is needed. This plan will establish the city’s long range vision for a 21st Century waterfront, identifying opportunities for improvement and the strategies needed to realize this new vision. Please stop by. PLGNA Meeting
The Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association will be holding their general meeting this Monday. There will be presentations on Prospect Park’s Lakeside Project that will renovate the skating rink and the surrounding area and create a new park entrance at Lincoln Road, An update on efforts to create a “Litter-Free PLG,” a project that arose from a conversation on the Lefferts Yahoo listserve!, and much more! The Secret Science Club: The Perfect Swarm”
Biologist and mathematician Iain Couzin of Princeton’s Collective Animal Behavior Lab discusses swarming locusts, marching army ants, and even crowds of bugged-out Homo sapiens. Some topics discussed will include: How did collective animal behavior evolve and what are the fundamental principles underlying this behavior? What enables groups of animals to move in unison? CHCA May Meeting
