Tired of using a plethora of plastic bags every time you leave the grocery store? Bags for the People and 3rd Ward present their monthly night of aiding people to construct their own bags to help the environment. Bring your own fabric and they’ll teach you the rest. Music will be provided and there will be cheap drink specials as well. Note: Bring your own cup and those cheap drinks will be even cheaper. Debate for City Council District 34
City Council candidates, Maritza Davila, Gerald Esposito, and Diana Reyna will be present to discuss and debate their views. There will be free refreshments, raffle prizes, and music. All are welcome. Monday, August 31. 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. 161 South 3rd Street, First Spanish Presbyterian Church.
76th Precinct Community Council Meeting

Society of Old Brooklynites Meeting
The SOB’s will be having their monthly meeting on Wednesday to discuss their plans for Brooklyn’s Labor Day Carnival Parade. Yolanda Lezama will be there to speak about the West Indian-American Day Carnival Parade of Eastern Parkway. Come and be part of the discussion. Rooftop Films screening of P-Star Rising
This film is about a young local girl gone rapper. After she proclaimed to her father, her wishes to become a rapper, he’s doing all in his power to help her on her quest. Before the screening of the film there will be a performance by P-Star herself. All are welcome to this free event. Thursday, September 3.
