Berkeley Carroll School Expansion Project
The Berkeley Carroll School is holding a community forum to discuss their plan to build a new play, dining, and classroom space at their existing playground. Due to the plan of demolishing the existing building and creating a new two-story building, there is concern about the impact the construction and new facility will have on the surrounding community. Public Advocate Candidates Forum
Moderated by John Hicks, the event will present an exciting opportunity for community leaders, grassroots activists and the general public to hear from an impressive array of candidates. In addition to a Q & A segment, the program will also include a brief overview of the Office of the Public Advocate. Monday, July 27. Ultimate Verbal Smackdown
The forum, moderated by Susan Albrecht, will touch on issues facing North Brooklyn. Some of the issues that will be discussed are: affordable housing, open space, transportation, public safety, environment, quality-of-life, education and youth. “Bushwick: Back in the Day”

Atlantic Yards Protest
There will be no more public hearings on Atlantic Yards; therefore, this should be considered the community’s chance to tell ESDC and Ratner their opinions of the Atlantic Yards project. All are welcome to protest and voice themselves. Wednesday, July 29. 1 p.m. 285 Jay Street, outside Klitgord Auditorium of NYC Technical College.

Mondays at Pierrepont Playground
This kid-friendly event, ages 4 and up, focuses on “science and movement”. This summer arts program in Brooklyn Heights continues until August 20. A parent or guardian must be present at all times. Monday, July 27. 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Pierrepont Playground, Brooklyn Heights.
