BHO,
I’m with you on the search for market equilibrium. I think we all are with you on that, but we have varying views of where that equilibrium will be… or where we would like it to be.
And I like that, lately, you seem to be better linking your view to data and theory, instead of just hammering your view. This way, it’s more informative and convincing.
And regarding the NYT article, Case thinks thinks we might be in store for a double dip!?
Phew!
I agree with Benson about the Empire State Plaza. It is actually very impressive and an excellent example of the best architectural design of its time. Nelson Rockefeller did have to tear down an entire Irish American Neighborhood and many beautiful homes and churches to build it, but hey, eminent domain was easier to do then.
People compare it with the Brasilia. Both built at about the same time. I think the comparison is a good one. One capital complex sits in a remote region of semi-accessible wilderness, while the other was built near the Amazon River. -no I jest.
Seriously, the combination of the State Capitol, which magnificent (let’s not get into the calibre of its occupants) and the jazzy Ipanema-themed Plaza is a knockout architecturally.
“When I take the train upstate to visit my parents I always sit on the left side to see the Bannerman Castle.”
Me too, Dave. Though not to visit your parents. My ex-office was on State Street.
“It’s pathetic that we rely on home prices to shore up economic health. All this bad debt needs to be defaulted for market equilibrium to occur.”
BHO, I agree 1000% with you on this one.
[shakes hand]
Home prices slip, foreclosure “crisis” won’t go away. It’s absolutely disgusting how Obama/FED is wasting $ trying to prop up RE as the few modifications that do happen often fail anyway. Like destroying crops during the Great Depression to manipulate supply/price. It’s pathetic that we rely on home prices to shore up economic health. All this bad debt needs to be defaulted for market equilibrium to occur.
Oh well, kick the can down the road that is getting rockier and rockier. Greater Depression.

Pete, you don’t want to see me in a kayak. My pages will melt.
I think that train ride upstate is spectacular and surprised not marketed more to tourists. Especially Peekskill thru Beacon.
And you can always kayak around Bannerman, Montrose, but wait for a warmer day.
good to know there are times when DIBS is on the left side.
Dave, I’ve always wanted to see Bannerman Castle. You know me, preserve and wander around every old pile of rocks and bricks. Follies like that are always a surprise and quite amazing when you come upon them. I think it’s great that quirky, yet rich, people insist on building them throughout history. It’s really too bad this collapse happened. I thought they had stabilized the ruins.
Totally agree on Bed Stuy ambulances.
