Regional Rail Working Group Meeting
Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., the Regional Rail Working Group is holding a meeting in the Conference Room of the NYPD Downtown Center, 104 Washington Street (just north of Rector Street). The RRWG advocates better coordination between transit agencies such as MTA, Metro North, LIRR, PATH, and NJ Transit. The main discussion will focus on a proposal to extend the #7 subway west, under the Hudson River, to New Jersey. The meeting will also look at rail equipment options for thru-running at Penn Station with special emphasis on rail technology issues. Check the website for a full agenda.

HDC Summer Lecture Series
Tonight, the Historic Districts Councils presents a free lecture entitled “Our Latest Landmarks: Recent New York City Historic Districts.” HDC’s Executive Director Simeon Bankoff will present an overview of recently designated and calendared historic districts. In addition to his lecture, a question and answer session will feature Fred Baer of the Fiske Terrace Association, Denise Brown of the Crown Heights North Association, Laura Heim of the Sunnyside Gardens Preservation Alliance and Andrew Berman of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation.
