Vanderbilt Getting a New Bagel Shop [Brownstoner] GMAP
This is a great addition to the neighborhood. They have a huge menu, including sandwiches and all kinds of smoked fish, and the hand-rolled bagels are baked on premises. My husband asked about bialys, and they are being ordered from a kosher bakery. I’m very happy about this development and wish them many years of success.
Looks like they saved some — but certainly not all — of the original pharmacy display cases and shelving. Given that they need a lot of cooler space, I guess it wasn’t realistic to think they could retain all the old woodwork but it’s still a bit sad to see it go. Anyway, I can’t wait to visit. The folks at Zaytoons (who own it) are super nice so I’m sure the staff here will be great too.

Very good bagels. Zaatar cream cheese is excellent.
I will be here tomorrow AM. If they’re good enough that I don’t have to walk to Bergen Bagels anymore, I will be a happy customer.

there was beautiful wood work inside prior to the renovation. I wonder what they did with it. It was an old drug store type set up – the old glass shelves, etc.
