The Olde Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe on Vanderbilt and Prospect, which has been in the works since September, has opened its doors to customers. We haven’t tasted any of the biz’s wares yet, but the interior looks great; click through to see a picture. So who’s tried it out?

  1. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. They have a huge menu, including sandwiches and all kinds of smoked fish, and the hand-rolled bagels are baked on premises. My husband asked about bialys, and they are being ordered from a kosher bakery. I’m very happy about this development and wish them many years of success.

  2. Looks like they saved some — but certainly not all — of the original pharmacy display cases and shelving. Given that they need a lot of cooler space, I guess it wasn’t realistic to think they could retain all the old woodwork but it’s still a bit sad to see it go. Anyway, I can’t wait to visit. The folks at Zaytoons (who own it) are super nice so I’m sure the staff here will be great too.
