Aspiring Bodega Owner #1: Hey, Partner, let’s start a bodega.
Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea, buddy. Where?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #1: How about four doors down from an existing deli?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea! We can’t lose! GMAP
Update: The 713 Deli has actually been closed for a while so maybe the folks opening the new place at 707 Fulton are actually business geniuses and it’s our commentary that’s superfluous!

  1. RE: Jimmies vs. Sprinkles…
I’m from New Britain, CT (just outside of Hartford). That’s straight-up New England. And we always called them sprinkles. And grinders.

  2. I’d rather have two delis or bodegas or whatever over a tacky “Game Champ” and a hideous “Game Stop” one block apart – 5th ave between 12th and 14th st, south slope.

MM, 47% of Americans did NOT pay ANY federal taxes, most of them being low income people. Reality bites.

    As do made-up statistics.

  4. Bxgrl – Yes, Canal Plastics may be the last of the plastic shops left. Canal had the strangest assortment of specialty shops… small motors, a/c parts, plexi. You could build anything from the stuff found there. Also, the old White Rose bar was smack in the middle of it on the north side near Greene.

  5. Putnam – “If you have a Boston accent you have uncontrollable impulses to type homophobic slurs on a real estate blog?” I thought it was clear that I was caricaturing the accent and language (including the choice of words)….. Since it obviously wasn’t clear… well, whatever.
