  1. And they’re closing the bridge which they 1) don’t own but will have full and sole use 2) don’t even have enough of the land in place to start the project, justify the taking of city streets, etc.

    HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh!

  2. I am WAYYYYY mad about the closing of the Carlton Avenue Bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That bridge is the main pedestrian link between neighborhoods. I walk between PS, Flatbus, PH and FG all the time. I don’t have wheels and taking the Vanderbilt bus is not a great option AT ALL…way out of the way and costs money. They should put in a pedestrian walkway while this MERDE goes on for YEARS!…and it’s apparently only so they get to use the bridge for their own access…they are unlikely to demolish the bridge for a long, long time if they even demolish it at all.

This seems like a Trojan Wedge being silently HAMMERED into the community!

    THANKS RATNER!

  3. 8:11 very perceptive of you to get “we” meaning our disposable culture. won’t it be interesting if they they can transform them into stainless steel for industrial look in the kitchen. 9:34

  4. Yeah, 9:34, some definition of “we” does indeed dump their old appliances. Then people like Olivio pick them up, rebuild them (or cannibalize them for parts) and re-sell them, primarily to landlords. I bought twice from them and once called them to pick up some old, but working, appliances, which they gladly took away (from an apartment in the Southside). — 8:11

  5. Do people still get their stoves, AC, refrigerators and transistor radios fixed? Always wondered how Olivo on Bedford/South 5th appliance service thrived over the years. Thought we dump old stuff and buy new ones.
