i think it’s f’ing lame that they are trying to get rid of the adult video and adult shops in sunset park. sunset park was just beginning to shine as the NYC’s newest red light district, and now a bunch of lame ass yuppie familes who probably just moved in last week are trying to thwart that? idiots. i have actually bought some pornos in the shops in sunset park. there is one shop that is mad shady, i thought i was going to get mugged/murdered by the people working in there!!!
*rob*
well, Costco is nearby but there are no BJ’s or Sam’sClub in Brooklyn.
It’s interesting about the politics of getting rid of the porn shops. These laws were introduced by the Republican, oftentimes overly-religious politicians and the Giuliani (not religious!!) administration in particular.
The unforeseen circumstances are that these places are usually frequented by married men who are trying to pretend to be hetero, looking for a BJ.
worried about toxins from cooking….eat out more often. I think that whole article was planted by restaurant association.
Nice pic of DIBS there in NYTimes with all the other Hedgehogs. Admit it, you bought the Duplex that is why we are going there tonight.
Is is really wise for city to close those establishments (xxx-type) when we need all the tax revenue we can get? Wouldn’t it be smarter to just create bigger tax on those places?
And I have a non-vented gas unit in my fireplace (closed up flue). No detectible CO levels from these units.
Actually, I’ve never found this to be an issue at all unless you’re doing some grilling on the top of the range. It’s about what you use to grill with (butter, olice oil, canola, peanut oil, etc). Even high temp stir-fry in a wok, with peanut oil, doesn’t produce a lot of smells and/or fumes.
Salmon is a whole other story.
LOL, Dave. I don’t know. I was just joking. But I used to notice them lining 3rd Avenue when I would drive to and from Costco, and that is the only place I’ve seen them outside Manhattan.
People worry about CO2, using a stove as a heater, and smoking, but NYC law says a window is adequate stove ventilation. It’s not. All my apartments have had problems with smoke, odors, and gases. In desperation, I have set up a portable fan to try to get the smoke to go out the window, but it doesn’t really work. And the self cleaning ovens are a whole other level of toxic.
I’ve never been to any of the Sunset Park adult bookstores and video archades. Are they any good, CGar.
I’ve met some really nice guys in the ones on Eighth Ave but alas, many of those are gone as well.
