I think it’s a thing.
I see that all over Philly…essentially 6-7 courses of a running bond pattern and then a course “on end” to tie this face to the one behind it.
The iron think is part of a contraption from the 18th century where they strap adulterers to a building so they can be spat upon. 🙂
