10:54 – you hit the nail right on the head. The hasidic community has a ridiculous amount of clout & pull with the AG office, the mayors office, the DOB and all other city organizations. Because they are such a large community they can sway elections. And they do. And everyone wants their votes, therefore they can get away with pretty much everything. Including bait & switch schemes using a yeshiva to get DOB approval and then selling the condos on the open market when the yeshiva backs out.
All of these buildings were built by either yeshivas or hasidic religious organizations. They hang the posters & info on the surrounds when they start construction. All are on bedford north of Myrtle. The temple looking one with the rounded glass windows is especially weird looking in person.
After construction is complete they then ‘sell’ (i use that term loosely – its hard to actually track money chaging hands in the hasidic community) the units to those that are part of the organization. That is how they keep non-hasidics out.
And the police, city, AG, DOB & mayor will never touch them because they all want their votes. Very corrupt.
