  1. The new owners wanted a fresh start – new management, new menu, new name. Why inherit the mistakes of the past, as well as any old liabilities, unknown debt, whatever, that you had nothing to do with?

I know the two couples who own the Bistro, they are all great people who were able to put their money where their mouths were, in terms of improving the neighborhood and providing needed amenities. I wish them the best of success, and will patronize their establishment as much as possible.

  2. Changing the name had to do with the previous owner causing problems. The lawyers thought it was better to change the name and completely disassociate from him.

MM and I know the new owners (there are 2 couples), and the food is great.

  3. “Does anyone know why they changed the name??? Seems like a stupid waste of money to me.”

There’s a pretty interesting thread on the shenanigans of the previous owner over at Brooklynian. Given the information that’s there it seems like a smart move to separate completely from the old owner and make a fresh start.

  4. C-Gar… it was a correction directed to Mr. B, but he just changed his original text, “Tavern on Dean,” to read “Tavern on Nostrand.” So I look like a dummy making random comments. It’s a subversive conspiracy to cause me shame.

  5. They now have a new owner. The pervious owner sold it a few months back along with the pizza shop across the street from it.

Once upon a time this section of Brooklyn was known as Crow Hill…I believe that’s where they got the name from.

Nice to hear that the food has improved.

  6. I second, Dave. I’ve had 2 great meals there (both times with a group of PLUSAs) since the new owners took over. The food was great, as was the service – the people who work there could not have been nicer or more attentive.

tybur – I think the photo on the left shows the old sign being taken down.
