But it takes more than that to survive in such an out-of-the-way location in the neighborhood. Prediction: In the spirit of Brucie and Karloff, another communal-table place will open here with a passionate small-scale chef. Ultimate Burgers and Dogs [Brownstoner Restaurant Guide]
This never works as sit-down because it is miniscule. Needs to do quick and delish takeout for the bulk of the business. Chicory did the best so far–it was always very crowded in the evening. And I agree that they ruined the sign and then closed shortly after! Sad. They said they replaced the old letters because it confused people, then chose the most illegible weird typeface I have ever seen to spell out “burgers” and “dogs”.
This place got what it deserved. I went once, it was not busy at all, and it took them 1/2 an hour to make three dogs. I never went back. Service that poor and slow deserves to go out of business.
if all you serve is hot dogs get a cart
Somebody should put a picture review of all the places that have tried to succeed here. It’s gotta be at least one a year for the past 10 years.
an absolute crying shame that they ruined the old grocery sign.
this neighborhood needs a methadone clinic.
that’s too bad. this place had great hotdogs and made very authentic chicago dogs.
