Seersucker’s windows were still papered as of yesterday, but the new restaurant in the old Pita Grill space on Smith Street is set to open at 5:30 tomorrow night. Grub Street reports on the man running the kitchen: “Robert Newton might have cooked at places like Le Cirque and Tabla, and as a private chef in Manhattan, but he grew up in Arkansas, and it’s his seasonal, ingredient-driven notion of ‘cleaned-up Southern’ that the chef wants to showcase at his first restaurant.” Grub Street shares some photos of the food and the interior, and also shares the menu, which includes a crispy pig’s foot, country cassoulet, pickled okra, and shrimp and grits.
